This session will provide information on training to become a lifestyle coach for provision of the National Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Intervention curriculum to individuals at risk for type 2 diabetes. You will also learn how to connect with recognized programs in your area and how to get paid for delivering a program.

Kaye Kramer, DrPH, MPH, RN
Kaye Kramer, DrPH, MPH, RN, is the chief science officer for Innovative Wellness Solutions and an adjunct associate professor of epidemiology in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Kramer’s work centers on population health promotion and disease prevention, with a specific emphasis on diabetes prevention and cardiovascular risk reduction. As the chief science officer for Spark360, she oversees the evidence base for all aspects of wellness programming and strategic planning. Dr. Kramer has multiple publications in the field of diabetes prevention, lifestyle intervention and community program delivery.

- Describe the background and rationale for the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) clinical research trial.
- Outline the purpose of the National DPP.
- Identify the main components of the National DPP and its role in reimbursement for program delivery.
- Recount the steps to becoming a successful National DPP Lifestyle Coach in the community through completion of a CDC-recognized training program.
- Summarize the main components of each of the National DPP training mini-presentations, including using mindfulness practices with clients and leading effective groups.
