Dr. Maria Luque is a health educator and fitness expert with 15+ years experience. After serving in the US Air Force, this former military Fitness Program Manager, took her passion for health and education to the next level and now holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in health sciences. In addition to conducting workshops and group/personal training, she is a freelance writer. She currently teaches at the College of Health and Human Services at Trident University International.

Learning Objectives
- Identify the negative physiological consequences of aging that can be effectively countered with regular resistance training.
- Describe how free-weight training and machine-based training can be beneficial additions to older adults’ training programs.
- Create a training program using free-weight and machine-based training to enhance muscular strength and functional task performance in elderly lifters.
- Explain the role that mindset plays during menopause.
- Identify traits of a growth (adaptive) mindset.
- Understand the interplay between mindset, mindfulness and physical activity.
