Brain Health and Quality of Life for the Aging Population
Brain Health and Quality of Life for the Aging Population will teach you how to safely and effectively help senior clients maintain their independence through health and fitness. You'll discover a holistic approach to both body and brain health, combining rapport-building, behavior change, specialized exercise programming and cognitive health. Most older adults are affected by some type of age-related chronic illness, injury or cognitive decline and need training by educated instructors who understand the extreme diversity of this population.
In 2050, the population of those ages 65 and over is projected to be 83.7 million, almost double its estimated population of 43.1 million in 2012. The fastest growing segment of the older population is the oldest old—that is, those ages 85 and older. By creating client-specific programming that incorporates the six domains of function and combining brain health training exercises, you can help your clients be physically functional and cognitively fit which assures independence.
